CLG Acla 6-10

Erris St Pat's 4-6

Achill enjoyed a comfortable victory over northern neighbours Erris St Pat's at Davitt Park this evening. The opening 5 minutes suggested that the reverse might be the case, with Erris St Pat's taking a 1-1 lead before 2 minutes had passed. The Achill lads settled well though, with the midfield pairing of brothers Gerard and Johnathan Fadian combining well to ensure the latter opened the Achill account, with a crashing shot into the net at the Garda Station end of Davitt Park. Achill built on this, and further scores from Johnathan Fadian, John Joyce and Seán McNamara (Currane) provided a comfortable cushion for the home side as half time approached. On the resumption, Achill continued to dominate proceedings with Toirlach Dever and Tiarnán Cooney extremely industrious. Despite a late attacking surge from the visitors, Achill were never really threatened and advance to the semifinals of the 2016 Championship.
