Pictured above with Peter Moran from Burrishoole GAA Club are all the Achill participants from  West Mayo Final of Scór na nÓg which took place on Friday night. The combined efforts of all who represented Achill this evening ensured that the Deirdre Moran Cup for best overall club made its way as far west as is possible.
Rachael Lavelle opened the solo singing with a beautiful Irish version of "The Gartan Mother's Lullaby". The ballad group sang "The Curragh of Kildare" and the more swiftly paced "Eoghainín Ó Ragadáin". The ballad group was made up of singers Áine Murphy, Lauren McNulty, JP Lavelle, Aideen Gielty and Leah McNamara. Aideen and Leah accompanied the singing on concertina and guitar respectively.

The third of the Achill acts to take to the stage tonight was the grúpa ceoil. Patrick Cafferkey played the uileann pipes, Conor Cafferkey played the fiddle, Caoilte Ó Cuanaigh was on the banjo. Aideen Gielty played concertina and Leah McNamara completed the group on accordion. They entertained the crowd with rousing renditions of "The Monaghan Twig" and "Jig gan Ainm". A very special word of thanks to Lorraine Hamill-McNulty and Cian McNamara who have given so much of their time and considerable expertise to bringing the grúpa ceoil this far. Thanks also to Ann Forry who prepared the ballad group. Maith sibh uilig!

The County Final of Scór na nÓg will be held next Saturday at 2pm in Breaffy GAA Clubhouse. All support welcome!
