A highly entertaining game of football took place between Achill Locals and Achill Exiles last Friday 2nd August 2013 at Davitt Park in the Kevin Kilbane Memorial Cup with the local team winning in a close encounter. Under floodlights in the pouring rain spectators were treated to a display of cartwheels and tricks never seen before in Davitt Park !!! Ronan Kilbane, winning captain was presented with the Kevin Kilbane Memorial Cup by Emma Kilbane, Kevin's sister. A fun night was had by all in Ted Lavelle's Pub after the game. Kevin Kilbane Memorial Cup 2013; 29th July 2013 To honour the memory of Kevin Kilbane, Gob Fada, Saula a match will take place on Friday 2nd August in Davitt Park at 8pm with a game betwen Achill exiles and Achill Locals. The winning team will be presented with the Kevin Kilbane Memorial Cup by members of the Kilbane family. Kevin was an excellent underage footballer and a member of the Achill Junior winning team of 2007. |
